Grandiflora Links continue the fight to end hunger in the Triad Area.

Out of the Garden Project

It is well-documented that individuals in the Triad area can, at times, lack access to enough food for an active, healthy life (see Map the Meal Gap, Feeding America). The Grandiflora NC Chapter of the Links incorporated is committed to reduce food insecurity which disproportionately affects racial and ethnic minorities in our service area. In support of this focus, we intentionally partnered with Out of the Garden Project, a food relief organization serving Greensboro and its surrounding areas.

Out of the Garden Project targets its food relief efforts toward families with children. Grandiflora members have volunteered regularly at Out of the Garden Project Fresh Mobile Markets to distribute food items to families in need. Fresh mobile markets occur at local elementary, middle, and high schools to access the target population. The Grandiflora NC Chapter of the Links continue to work to transform our community by volunteering at Out of the Garden Project in traditional and non-traditional ways to lessen the negative impact of chronic hunger. To date, we have been instrumental in volunteering at times when it can be difficult to secure volunteer help and in identifying ways to support existing volunteer management initiatives.
